Knowing When To Get Help With Alzheimer’s

It’s not always obvious when to ask for help, or when to make changes to the care that the person with dementia is getting.  Providing good care means meeting the needs of the person receiving care, using one service or a combination of several.  Depending on preferences, needs and abilities, it may be best to look for different or more assistance.

How much care a person needs depends on how independently he or she can walk, eat, use the restroom and bathe.  Ask your health care provider to help you gauge these abilities.  There is also a very helpful, free and private online tool at http://bit.ly/2lSNIx

What is Alzheimer’s Disease?

Alzheimer’s disease (AD), also called Alzheimer disease or simply Alzheimer’s, is the most common cause of dementia afflicting 24 million people worldwide. Alzheimer’s is a degenerative and terminal disease for which there is currently no known cure. In its most common form, it occurs in people over 65 years old although a less-prevalent early onset form also exists.   The disease can begin many years before it is eventually diagnosed.
