In 2003, one of our closest friends passed on. While learning how to arrange care for her during her illness, we were overwhelmed, uneducated about the health care industry, and unequipped to find all the help needed to best take care of her.
Since then, many of our friends were faced with finding care and making arrangements for their aging senior parents, and they were also frustrated by the endless separate web searches, an industry full of confusing term, inefficiency in coordinating resources, as well as difficulty in keeping track of what they researched and communicating this to siblings who may be helping.
Thus, after endless searches to thread the maze & find care for an elderly friend and hearing the frustration from others, we decided that the system needed simplifying with all info in one place — so GeriCareFinder was created.

Cathy Cress, M. S. W: Ms. Cress holds an MSW in Aging from U.C. Berkeley. Her book, Handbook of Geriatric Care Management, Jones and Bartlett, came out in a second edition in February 2007 and is considered the bible of geriatric care management. Her new book Care Managers, Working With the Aging Functional and Dysfunctional Family, Jones and Bartlett, was published in August 2008.
Ms. Cress is the founder of GCM Consult, working with beginning GCM businesses. She is a lecturer in Gerontology at the University of Florida. She was founder and director of Cresscare, a GCM business, for 25 years.
